The Fleur de Lis wind chime features an ash wood top and windcatcher with a beautiful, rich bubinga finish that is weather-resistant and 6 high-quality silver aluminum tubes that will not rust when exposed to the elements. Measuring 31-inches in overall length, this chime is tuned to the opening notes of La Marseillaise, the French national anthem; originally called "War Song for the Rhine Army, " La Marseillaise was a revolutionary song with a call for patriotism and freedom from tyranny. It acquired its nickname when it was sung by volunteers of the French National Guard from Marseille as they marched into Paris in 1792. The fleur de Lis on the chime’s windcatcher is a symbol often used by French royalty. The fleur de Lis, or “Lily Flower, ” appeared on the flags and clothing of French monarchs and can be seen on monuments throughout the country. It also has been a symbol of New Orleans since its inception and is the logo for the New Orleans Saints. May the gentle chiming of our Fleur de Lis Chime transport you to the banks of the Seine, the French Quarter, or wherever your heart may roam. This chime carries a lifetime tuning . More than 30-years ago, the first Woodstock Chime was created by founder and owner Garry Kvistad from an aluminum lawn chair he found in a landfill. As a professional musician and instrument designer, he was fascinated by the Scales of Olympos, a 7th century pentatonic scale that can't be played on a modern piano. Garry had the idea to cut and tune the lawn chair chime tubes to the exact frequency of the ancient scale. The resulting Chimes of Olympos was the first Woodstock Chime and is still one of our bestselling wind chimes. Garry and his wife Diane founded Woodstock Percussion, in 1979 and it remains a family-owned business in New York's Hudson Valley.
